Course Structure Overview

The curriculum for the Law program at Integral University Lucknow is structured to provide a comprehensive foundation in legal theory and practical application. The program spans three years, with each year comprising two semesters totaling eight semesters.

Advanced Departmental Elective Courses

The advanced departmental elective courses are designed to deepen students' understanding of specific areas within the legal field. These courses are offered in both theoretical and applied formats, allowing students to explore specialized topics such as cybersecurity law, intellectual property management, and international trade law.

Corporate Law: This course explores the legal framework governing corporations, including their formation, governance, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Students learn about corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder rights, and the role of directors and officers in corporate entities.

International Human Rights Law: This course examines the development and application of international human rights instruments and mechanisms. Students study case law from regional bodies such as the European Court of Human Rights and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, analyzing landmark decisions and their impact on national legal systems.

Cybersecurity and Data Protection Law: With increasing reliance on digital platforms, this course addresses legal issues surrounding cybersecurity threats, data breaches, privacy protection, and cybercrime. Students examine relevant statutes, case law, and international frameworks such as GDPR and the Indian IT Act.

Environmental Law: This course focuses on the intersection of environmental protection and legal regulation. Topics include pollution control laws, conservation efforts, climate change legislation, and sustainable development principles. Students analyze real-world cases involving environmental violations and remediation strategies.

Intellectual Property Rights: This course covers the legal aspects of protecting inventions, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Students learn about IP registration processes, infringement issues, licensing agreements, and enforcement mechanisms in both domestic and international contexts.

Dispute Resolution and Arbitration: This course introduces students to alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation, conciliation, and arbitration. Students study procedural rules, ethical considerations, and practical applications of these methods in resolving commercial and civil disputes.

Public International Law: This course explores the legal relationships between states and international organizations. Students examine treaties, customary international law, jurisdictional issues, and the role of international courts and tribunals in resolving disputes.

Commercial Law: Focused on business transactions, this course covers sales of goods, negotiable instruments, banking laws, and insurance regulations. Students learn how to draft commercial contracts and navigate regulatory requirements affecting businesses.

Constitutional Law: This course provides an in-depth analysis of constitutional principles, judicial review, federalism, and fundamental rights. Students study landmark judgments from the Supreme Court and High Courts, examining their implications for individual liberties and state power.

Family Law: This course explores legal aspects of marriage, divorce, adoption, child custody, and domestic violence. Students examine how family laws vary across cultures and jurisdictions, considering both traditional practices and evolving social norms.

Project-Based Learning Philosophy

The department emphasizes project-based learning as a core component of the educational experience. Projects are assigned at multiple levels—mini-projects in early semesters and capstone research projects in later years.

Mini-projects typically involve case studies, policy analysis, or legal research on current issues. These projects help students develop analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and proficiency in legal writing. Each mini-project is evaluated using a rubric that assesses clarity, depth of analysis, accuracy of facts, and presentation quality.

The final-year thesis/capstone project requires students to conduct original research on a topic of their choice under the supervision of a faculty mentor. The project must demonstrate advanced knowledge in the chosen area, incorporate relevant legal literature, and propose practical solutions or recommendations.

Students select their projects based on interests and career goals. Faculty mentors guide them through every stage—from proposal development to final submission—ensuring that each project meets academic standards and contributes meaningfully to the field of law.
