    Admission Process Overview

The admission to the Bachelor of Technology program at Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya Nagaon is primarily based on performance in national-level entrance examinations such as JEE Advanced or JEE Main. Additionally, candidates may be considered through state-level qualifying exams like WBJEE or other relevant tests recognized by the university.

The entire admission process is conducted online through the official website of the university. Candidates must first register on the portal and fill out the application form with accurate details. After submitting the form, they are required to pay the application fee, which varies depending on the category of the candidate.

Once the application is processed, candidates receive a confirmation email with a unique registration number. The next step involves uploading scanned copies of educational certificates, photographs, and other necessary documents. All documents must be attested by recognized authorities.

The university conducts the selection process based on the merit obtained in the qualifying examination. For JEE Advanced, candidates must score above the minimum qualifying marks set by the exam authority. Similarly, for JEE Main, candidates must meet the cutoff requirements for admission to the program.

After the merit list is prepared, shortlisted candidates are called for document verification at the university campus. During this stage, candidates must present original documents along with photocopies for scrutiny. Any discrepancies in the submitted documents may lead to disqualification from the process.

Upon successful completion of document verification, candidates are allocated seats based on their merit rank and preferences indicated during counseling. The allocation is done through a centralized online system that ensures fairness and transparency in seat distribution.

    Exam Preparation Strategy

Preparing for JEE Advanced or JEE Main requires a disciplined approach and consistent effort. Candidates should start their preparation early, ideally from the first year of Class 11th. It is essential to follow a structured study plan that covers all subjects—Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics—with equal emphasis.

Regular practice through mock tests and previous years' question papers helps improve time management and problem-solving speed. Time allocation for each section should be carefully planned to ensure sufficient time for revision. Additionally, candidates must focus on understanding concepts rather than rote learning.

Joining coaching institutes or online platforms can provide structured guidance and access to quality resources. However, self-study remains crucial for building a strong foundation. Solving numerical problems daily helps in reinforcing theoretical knowledge and identifying weak areas that need improvement.

    Counseling Process

The counseling process is conducted in two phases—Round 1 and Round 2. In Round 1, candidates who have appeared for the entrance examination are called based on their rank obtained. During this round, candidates must fill in their preferences for colleges and programs according to their choices.

After the initial allocation of seats, a list of candidates is published online. Those who are not allocated seats in Round 1 can participate in Round 2 if there are unfilled seats available. The process continues until all seats are filled or no further rounds are conducted.

Candidates must log into the counseling portal and follow the instructions provided to complete the seat acceptance procedure. Once a candidate accepts a seat, they cannot change their choice later. It is therefore advisable to make informed decisions based on research and personal preferences.
