    The first advanced departmental elective is Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology. This course explores the application of nanoscale materials in drug delivery systems, including nanoparticles, liposomes, and micelles. Students learn about formulation development, characterization techniques, and applications in targeted drug delivery. The course includes laboratory sessions where students prepare and evaluate nanoformulations for various therapeutic applications.

    Another advanced elective is Pharmaceutical Informatics, which focuses on the application of information technology in pharmaceutical research and development. Students study databases, data mining techniques, molecular modeling, and computational chemistry. The course includes practical sessions on using software tools for drug design and analysis.

    The third elective, Pharmaceutical Process Development, covers the principles and practices of developing pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.     The Pharmaceutical Education and Training elective focuses on the principles and practices of teaching and training in pharmaceutical sciences.     Pharmaceutical Biotechnology covers the application of biotechnology in pharmaceutical research and development. Topics include recombinant DNA technology, protein engineering, monoclonal antibodies, and gene therapy. The course includes laboratory sessions on bioprocessing techniques and molecular biology methods.

    Pharmaceutical Quality Management provides comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance and control systems in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Students learn about Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality control testing, and regulatory compliance. The course includes practical training in quality management systems and laboratory procedures.

    Regulatory Science focuses on the principles and practices of regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical industry. Students study regulatory frameworks, submission processes, and compliance requirements for various regions including the US, EU, and India. The course includes case studies of successful regulatory submissions and regulatory strategies for drug development.

    Pharmaceutical Entrepreneurship explores the entrepreneurial aspects of the pharmaceutical industry. Students learn about business planning, intellectual property management, funding strategies, and startup development in pharmaceutical sectors. The course includes practical sessions on developing business models and pitching to investors.

    Advanced Drug Delivery Systems covers novel approaches to drug delivery including transdermal, pulmonary, ocular, and controlled release systems. Students study the science behind these systems and their applications in treating various diseases. Laboratory sessions involve formulation development and evaluation of different delivery methods.

    The department's philosophy on project-based learning is centered on providing students with authentic experiences that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Our approach emphasizes collaborative learning, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving.

    Mini-projects are introduced in the third year and provide students with opportunities to work on specific pharmaceutical challenges under faculty guidance.     The final-year thesis/capstone project is a comprehensive endeavor that requires students to demonstrate mastery of pharmaceutical concepts through original research or application-based projects. Students select topics in consultation with faculty mentors and work on extended research or development projects throughout the seventh and eighth semesters.

    Project selection involves a detailed process where students present their ideas, receive feedback from faculty, and choose mentors based on their expertise and availability. The selection process ensures that students work on relevant, challenging, and feasible projects that contribute to their professional development.
