Our department offers a wide range of advanced elective courses designed to deepen students' understanding and prepare them for specialized roles in the nursing field.

• Nursing Informatics: This course explores how information technology can enhance patient care delivery. Students learn about electronic health records, data management systems, and telehealth applications. The course includes hands-on sessions with real-world tools used in healthcare settings.
• Global Health and Cultural Competency: Designed to equip students with the skills needed to work in diverse cultural contexts. Topics include health disparities, global health policies, and culturally sensitive care practices. Students engage in simulations that reflect real-world challenges faced by nurses working internationally.
• Healthcare Quality Management: Focuses on improving healthcare outcomes through quality assurance processes. Students learn about performance metrics, risk management, and continuous quality improvement strategies used in hospitals and clinics.
• Nursing Education and Teaching Methods: Prepares students to become effective educators within the nursing profession. The course covers curriculum development, instructional design, assessment techniques, and mentorship strategies for guiding junior nurses.

Project-Based Learning Philosophy

At C U Shah University Surendranagar, project-based learning is central to our nursing education philosophy. We believe that real-world problem-solving enhances critical thinking skills and prepares students for effective clinical practice.

The program integrates mini-projects throughout the curriculum, starting from the second year. These projects are designed to be collaborative, requiring students to work in teams to address real or simulated healthcare challenges. Projects may involve developing patient education materials, conducting community health assessments, or designing quality improvement initiatives within hospital units.

The final-year capstone project is a significant component of the program. Students choose a topic aligned with their interests and career goals, often relating to current trends in nursing practice or research. They work closely with faculty mentors who guide them through literature reviews, data collection, analysis, and presentation development.

Evaluation criteria for projects include clarity of objectives, methodology, relevance to nursing practice, quality of deliverables, and effective teamwork. Students present their findings at an annual symposium where they receive feedback from peers, faculty, and visiting experts in the field.
